In that 2024 Journal of Dentistry analysis, a history of treated periodontitis and smoking emerged as the only factors with independent prognostic value for implant failure, while operator experience influenced outcomes within the training cohort. These findings are reinforced by a 2025 retrospective multicenter study published in the International Journal of Dentistry, "Outcomes of Dental Implants in Routine Clinical Practice," which tracked implants placed in everyday clinical settings over a mean follow-up of nearly four years and reported high long-term survival. The authors concluded that following current clinical guidelines for implant therapy and adhering closely to manufacturer protocols are central to achieving consistently satisfactory outcomes — practices that depend directly on clinician training and accumulated experience.
Dr. Yusuf Ilhan, who completed his PhD in Prosthodontics at Marmara University in 2008, emphasized the correlation between experience and patient outcomes. "Clinical evidence has long demonstrated that accumulated expertise directly impacts treatment success.
